Walking dog (switch adapted toy)

Description

Cause and effect switch adapted devices are often used to introduce people to the use of switches. They are special toys which are controlled by a switch and produce motion, sound, light, vibration etc. They have one or two 3.5 mm jacks for connecting a switch. The user uses the switch to operate the device, when he presses the switch the device is working, when he releases the switch the device stops.

Observing a child controlling a toy using a switch, can be sufficient to establish whether or not the child has an understanding of cause and effect, visual, auditory and motion perception. For some users this may have to be done by allowing them to make switch presses and to gradually establish a connection between this and their switch presses.

However, even the simplest switch adapted devices/toys can be put to more use by involving the users in games based on their use of the switch. This can provide opportunities to refine their switch operation by developing more control.

* We can adapt your own devices/toys to be controlled by a switch or you can easily turn your devices to switch adapted on your own by using a battery adapter.

The walking dog barks or walks while operating.
