Jungle Memory Game is a board game which aims in developing children’s auditory memory skills, effective listening skills, vocabulary enrichment etc. through a fun way.
The game requires 2-5 players (one person will narrate a story and the rest will listen). The narrator (should be an adult) tells a story using vocabulary related to the game’s cards. The other players have to listen carefully to the story and then place the story’s characters (game cards) at the appropriate place on the game board.
1. We decide a narrator for the game (it could be an adult).
2. All the other players take one game board and 20 game cards each.
3. The narrator starts telling a story and the players listen to him very carefully, example: “While I was walking next to the lake, I saw at number 2 a zebra standing in front of the palm tree in number 1”.
4. When the narrator finishes his story, each child takes his game board and places each game card on the appropriate number on the game board.
· The narrator narrates the whole story and the children place their cards at the end or the narrator narrates a part of the story (involving only one card at first, then two etc.), the children place their cards and then the narrator continues the story.
· Once the children have placed their cards on the game board, the narrator adds new content to his story and the children place the rest of the cards.
· The narrator starts with a small story of 1-2 involving only 1-2 game cards for a while and gradually he can narrate bigger stories.
· At a very easy level we can give each student only the game cards they will use, not the whole set.
· At the next level we can give them the cards they’ll use and 2 more. We can gradually start giving them more cards/
· Once the children have placed their cards on the game board, we ask them to narrate the story, so they can practice their memory and vocabulary.
